Thank you to Nancy Margulies for the use of her beautiful painting on this website header.

One of the most calming and powerful actions you can do to intervene

in a stormy world is to stand up and show your soul." - Clarissa Pinkola Estes

This show is about a very generous group of Coastside artists who have created work specifically for this event. They have put many hours into creating works from their hearts and this yearly benefit has become a much anticipated art event in Half Moon Bay.

A 3 week exhibition, preview reception, silent auction, live auction, and closing celebration was held to raise money, with proceeds going to the Doctors Without Borders organization. We also created and sold a catalog that documented the work and artist thoughts.

Last year we sold all 36 art pieces specially created for the event, raising $5,787 for Doctors Without Borders! It was a terrific show and reception at Kelly Street Gallery with 400 attendees. You can check out the reception at:

Thank you to all who made this the best Doctors Without Borders Benefit ever by bidding and purchasing an original piece of art made by our Coastside community.

Why Doctors Without Borders?
We do this yearly benefit for Doctors Without Borders because their work is based on the humanitarian principles of medical ethics and impartiality. They operate independently of any political, military, or religious agendas. The key to their ability to act independently in response to a crisis is its independent funding. 100 percent of the USA branch funding comes from private sources, not governments. In 2006, they had more than three million individual donors and private funders worldwide. I want to make sure their work continues.

New developments for 2011!
This year’s show was held at the
Pasta Moon Music Box Lounge. Kim Levin of Pasta Moon  grciously offered us the space for three weeks and hosted the closing gala. This is a high visibility location was open daily for locals and out-of-towners to see our art over 22 days, day and evening.

Susan Friedman and Jennifer Clark kindly volunteered to make this year’s event happen.

thank you, Judy Shintani, event organizer
